Andy Moore.

Tell us about your role
I carry out the lead service role for a pretty diverse group of clients.

How long have you been with the firm?
Since 2012

What was your background before that?
My journey in insurance broking began at the age of 16, fresh out of school, when I worked for a Yorkshire based Personal Lines broker, Apex Insurance, as an office junior while I gained my NVQ in Business Admin.  After spending 2 years with Apex, I moved to Evans Charles Stevens, a commercial insurance broker also based in Yorkshire where I worked for 2 years in their commercial claims department.

I then met the lucky lady who would become my wife and I moved to Ayrshire in 1997 where I began work in the commercial department of Giles Insurance Brokers.  I worked at Giles Insurance Brokers for 15 years performing various roles from Account Handler to Account Exec.  It was during my time at Giles that I met and worked with John McQuaid and Tom Yorke.

In August 2012, I received a phone call from Tom Yorke and I started work with the guys a month later.  The rest as they say, is history.

What are your special skills?
Trained killer in hand to hand combat… not really, but I do have a certain Yorkshire charm.

What do you get up to outside of work?
At home I’m typical family man, spending time with my family, usual man chores, playing with the dogs, and walking the kids. I do get to enjoy some time working on art projects with wildlife and pet portraits being my particular favourites.  And occasionally, if family allows, I get to spend some time fishing.

What is your guilty pleasure?
I’m a closet Erasure fan… although that closet opens really easily.

What is your favourite quote?

One of my father’s pearls of wisdom… “The early worm gets the birds”. To this day, I still don’t know if he got that the wrong way around intentionally.
